Issue: Point-source pollution: storm water drains
We are all from the Twin Cities area and fish the Cannon River frequently. Along just this short stretch of the Cannon River where we fish, there are several storm water drains that dump into the river. During last year's Fish A Thon, I watched as some type of soap or detergent flowed out of a storm drain into the very river where I eat catch and eat fish. The river meanders through homes, agricultural land, streets, and businesses that can impact the river ecosystem.
The Solution: We want to raise the awareness of the storm drains dumping directly into the river to hopefully get the problem resolved.
