Stewardship Tip – Clean for the Paparazzi
By Arshia | June 14, 2011
I am a steward; I clean the resource…
Do you watch Entertainment Tonight? Neither do we.
We will admit, though, to sneaking a peek at ET now and again. And there is no sense on our part for trying to be smug. There is something that we can learn from celebrities. They keep themselves employed by doing their best to stay in front of the camera. As Oscar Wilde said, “the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.”
We can do the same thing. We can be in front of the camera and we can be talked about.
The next time you clean trash up, take it to the next level. Put yourself in front of the camera. You might have trouble attracting the paparazzi to your local lake. But you, or a friend, can photograph your activities.
Take pictures of you and your friends as you pick up trash. Photograph the trash that you collect, separate out and get pictures of the recyclables.
And then, make yourself a celebrity. Post your pictures on Facebook, tweet about the trash you collected, print your pictures and share them with your colleagues at work, send them to the your local outdoor reporter…
Set your example out in front of the world, you may sow a seed, you may plant an idea.
When you clean up trash at your local stream or lake you are doing good work for the resource. When you set your example out in front of the world for all to see, you set an example, you inspire others…
Entertainment Tonight will have nothing on you.
We are stewards; we clean up the resource…
