    Recycled Fish “On Ice” 2009

    By FishRecycler | January 16, 2009

    Recycled Fish

Reports from this year’s events, a schedule on those still to come, and much more when you click the header above or “Read the Rest of this Entry” below.

NEW EVENTS ADDED TO THE SCHEDULE JAN 15 – SEE THE UPDATED SCHEDULE BELOW!

    Kissing Fish
In 2008 Recycled Fish went face-to-face on frozen lakes with thousands of the most dedicated people in the angling world. Thousands more watched our viral “Ice Fishing 101” video online. This year, the “On Ice” tour is back with new stops and new videos!

    Hospitality Station
ON THE ICE, Recycled Fish hosts an angler hospitality station with Grabber Warmers, a Coleman Pro Cat heater Handwarming Station, free hot chocolate, and Folgers Coffee Singles. Plus, our guests take the Sportsman’s Stewardship Pledge to join Recycled Fish and advance the Stewardship Ethic.

    Bag Distribution
AT LARGE SCALE EVENTS, we distribute bags which are used to transport fish submerged in water to the weigh-ins. Some of these events have over 10,000 contestants, providing a great opportunity to spread the word on a big scale. Bags that aren’t used for fish transport are used for lake cleanup, enlisting every angler as a custodian of the lake.

    Walleye Release
WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Up to 85% fish survival rates are achieved, and education around fish handling will have powerful positive ripple effects.

    Event Photo - Girls
EVENT PHOTOS are taken of anglers at the events, then those guests get a card directing them to our Online Photo Gallery to download their photo. Once here, guests learn more about a lifestyle of stewardship.

    $5 Saves 25 Fish

walleye in bag of waterWhen Recycled Fish treads on frozen lakes this winter for the Recycled Fish “On Ice” tour, we’ll hand out plastic bags that anglers use to bring fish to weigh-ins at tournaments and derbies.

We use our “water on a stick” device to fill the bags, so that fish can be brought to weigh ins submerged in water. This means healthy, live fish to release back to the lake – and it reinforces the importance of good fish handling as a component of catch and release, establishing a stewardship mindset.

Bags that aren’t used for fish transportation are used to enlist every angler on the lake as a custodian, and massive lake cleanup efforts ensue when anglers are properly equipped.

A donation of just $5 funds a couple dozen bags – enough to ensure that 25 fish stay swimming in a lake, or 25 gallons of trash stay out of it.

No matter how you slice it, it means great things for the image of anglers, the quality of our fisheries, and the experience we’ll all have on the water this winter or next spring.

The Recycled Fish “On Ice” tour would be impossible without the help of these great sponsors. Be sure to remember them when you hit the hard water.
