    How You Can Help

    By Fish Recycler | April 24, 2007

TAKE THE SPORTSMAN’S STEWARDSHIP PLEDGE AND JOIN RECYCLED FISH RIGHT NOW

Start living a lifestyle of stewardship
    * Do you have low-flow shower heads, faucets and toilet?
    * Is there a water heater blanket on your water heater?
    * Do you limit watering your lawn, and use no fertilizer or phosphate-free organic fertilizer?
    * Have you made the switch to CFL light bulbs?
    * What kind of car or truck do you drive? Is it the most fuel efficient possible?

    * Do you limit driving by carpooling, making multi-purpose trips, and walking or biking when possible?
    * Do you keep your tires inflated, air filter changed regularly, and other tactics to maximize fuel efficiency?
    * Are you recycling your paper, plastic, glass and aluminum?
    * Are you recycling at home and at work?
    * Do you buy local or organic produce when possible?
    * Does your energy company offer “green” energy that you can select?
    * Do you give time, money, or lend other resources to help local conservation groups?
    * Do you ever clean up other people’s trash when you go fishing?
    * You’d never leave a ball of fishing line on shore, but are you vigilant about cleaning it up when you find it?
    * Are you practicing S.A.F.E. Angling tactics like lead-free weights, and biodegradable molded baits?
    * Do you practice catch and release and selective harvest faithfully and responsibly?
    * Are you making sure to wash your boat or waders between bodies of water so you don’t transport aquatic invasive species like zebra mussels, milfoil, and whirling disease?

These are a sampling of what a lifestyle of might look like. Believe it or not, our lifestyle runs downstream, and it takes all of us acting as stewards everyday to make sure that there i a legacy of healthy lakes, streams and seas for generations to come.
