A new kind of fishing tournament is coming to Iowa with Scheel’s All Sport , Des Moines Parks and Recreation, Iowa Sportsman and Berkley.
Here’s how it works:
Register online at AnglingMasters.com/DesMoines. Set up a “cabin” on the website, and get your special contest measuring tape. You can order online or pick it up at Scheel’s in Des Moines (at the Customer Service Desk).
Registration is just $25 per person for the whole year, and a portion of proceeds benefit Recycled Fish.
You can fish every day, once a week, or just one time from April 16 – Sept. 2. Fish caught in another contest (such as a bass tournament) are eligible in this event also, so it’s a great way to ‘up the ante’ if you’re already fishing competitively.
If traditional tournaments aren’t your thing but you’ll be out fishing with family, friends, or by yourself – here’s a way to add a chance to not only catch fish, but win prizes at the same time!
Fish any public waters in Iowa for your choice of species:
Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, Channel Catfish, Crappie or Northern Pike
When you catch a fish, you take a few photographs of it on the measuring tape with a digital camera.
(This brook trout caught in a previous AMI event set a world record!)
When you get home, you log onto your “cabin” on the Angling Masters website, upload your photos with details on your catch, and your fish are awarded a score.
Is it tougher to catch a 16” bass or a 16” walleye? The website has it all worked out!
The “catch of the day” each day is good for a September fish-off for the $500 Scheels Shopping Spree, the angler with the best three fish each week wins a Berkley Tackle Pack and a chance to fish off for the title of Des Moines Grandmasters Cup Champion and a Canadian fishing trip for two.
For official rules and to sign up, visit www.AnglingMasters.com/DesMoines.
Be sure to buy your official measuring tape at Scheels in West Des Moines, Iowa or from this link before you head out fishing this year! A portion of proceeds benefit Recycled Fish.
Not in Iowa? You can still participate in the Angling Masters Community. Want to help bring the Grandmasters Cup to your town? Ask us how!
Have you taken our Sportsman’s Stewardship Pledge? If not, now’s a great time!
