Okoboji Hardwater Open – Hitting the ice January 7 & 8!

Recycled Fish is moving forward as scheduled with the Okoboji Hardwater Open, being held on West Lake Okoboji, Little Emerson Bay, January 7-8, 2011.
Ice conditions have fluctuated over the last couple of weeks, but reports as of Tuesday, January 3 are for 4″ of solid ice with 2″ of frozen slush on top.
We will continue to monitor the ice conditions throughout the week. We have decided not to allow ATV’s, snowmobiles, or any motorized vehicles out on the ice for the tournament due to ice conditions. Safety is our primary concern for both the participating anglers as well as the Recycled Fish and volunteer staff.

The volunteer staff will start arriving on Friday to begin preparations for the Saturday pre-fishing day with a free hot lunch for all registered anglers. Participating anglers are encouraged to practice on Saturday by walking out on the ice since there will be no motorized transportation the day of the tournament. Staff will be on hand to answer any questoins you may have. The Okoboji Hadwater Open “Ice Bash” and rules meeting will be held Saturday night at the Village West Resort at 7PM. Any updates to the conditions and the tournament will be announced at that time.
The Recycled Fish On Ice Tour is in it’s fifth year and the Okoboji Hardwater Open is a big part of the tour. We are looking forward to seeing many old friends and making new ones.
